It’s not impolite to talk about.
It’s maybe impolite to argue, but not to have constructive conversations.
First life, through 2000 = very much conservative. Reliable GOP voter although always claiming the “independent” designation. Pro-life, pro-2A. Beliefs aligned with first husband.
Next life, 2001 and after = more progressive views. Unlearning racism. Unlearning homophobia. Pro-CHOICE. Still a gun owner, but prefer common sense gun legislation over NO RESTRICTIONS. Some people should not be able to easily acquire guns and ammunition, and we all know it. Make the laws work.
In 2020 I voted for a Democrat for President for the first time. Lots of folks on the internet like to call me a liar, but I know what I know. I didn’t vote for Obama either time, or Clinton either time. That’s just facts.
I’m still independent. I like the IDEA of “libertarian” but in practice it’s just a GOP kink. I would not consider myself a radical or extremist. I’ve been told being centrist is worse, but I like the idea of people taking care of themselves and each other.
I’m not a Democrat. I’m not a Republican. I’m not a Libertarian. I’m an American. If I had to define myself in specifics, I’d have to say left-leaning centrist.
This is new and incomplete. I shall return.
